Ownly does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. It cannot.
The app is built without the Android INTERNET permission, so it is technically
incapable of sending anything off your device.
Everything you enter — item names, brands, serial numbers, purchase dates, prices, notes, locations, reminders, service history, and any photos or documents you attach — is stored in a private database and private file storage on your own device. This storage is sandboxed by Android and is not readable by other apps.
| POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Shows the daily reminder about upcoming warranties, expiries and renewals. These notifications are generated on your device from your own data. |
|---|---|
| USE_BIOMETRIC | Only if you turn on the optional app lock, so Android can verify your fingerprint, face, or screen lock. Ownly never sees your biometric data; Android handles it entirely. |
Ownly deliberately does not request camera or storage permissions. Taking a photo uses the Android camera app, and choosing files uses the Android photo picker and document picker, both of which hand a single chosen file to Ownly without granting broader access.
When you export a backup or a CSV, or share a claim-pack PDF, you choose where that file goes using the Android system file picker or share sheet. Once you send a file to another app or service, that file is governed by the privacy policy of wherever you sent it, not by this one. Encrypted backups are protected with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from the password you set; that password is never stored, and it cannot be recovered if forgotten.
You can delete any individual item at any time. To remove everything at once, open Settings → Delete everything. Uninstalling Ownly also removes its database and all attached files from your device. Because nothing was ever sent anywhere, there is no server copy to request deletion of.
Ownly is a general-purpose organiser suitable for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
If a future version of Ownly ever adds an optional feature that involves the network — for example an opt-in cloud backup — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and any such feature will be off by default and clearly labelled.
